I got dropped off downtown today. This is the view from Notre Dame Basilica. Behind the creepy spider which is alleged to be art, is the Nartional Art Gallery. Construction is going on so it appears someone was creative and disguised it as an iceberg. I read it about it - it is tacky and would have preferred not knowing the meaning. Apparently they will be removing the Iceberg covering slower so that it eventually is gone by the end the end of the year - allegedly this is to a message about global warming. See. It was better not knowing.

Nintendo Cross Canada Tour station - in the Byward Market

So while downtown today I went to the Nintendo Cross Canada tour which is stopping in Ottawa for 3 days. There's a rig set up that you enter and there are Wii U's all over the place. It's crowded but fun.
Once you step outside there are 3DS booths. I got to see great demonstrations for both; I had never played a Wii U before; its definitely on the wish list now; the WiiChat feature would be great to keep in contact (much like Apple's Facetime). At the end of the "tour" I got to spin the prize while. The prize I won is not for me.

No more pizza Fridays :(

Every other Friday in my house the dinner menu was pizza. I look forward to that being reinstated but it looks like fishy Friday is back. Behold, my dinner was a herbed haddock fried with onions with a tasty salad I think Declan and Darby would have liked even though it had walnuts, almonds, dried cranberries with a pomegranate dressing. Ella would of course not even have tried it!

Haunted Walk

I have always intended to go on Ottawa's haunted walk but I never have. While running errands with Gramma today I walked by where the tickets are sold. This is now definitely on my TODO list but I will wait for you guys to come to Ottawa if you are interested.

Ottawa strangeness

This is on the lawn beside the Ottawa City Hall. I couldn't find a plaque or anything telling me what this is.

I had to go to the City Hall to apply for an Ontario Health Card in case you're wondering why I was there. In the past, I never had to go downtown that for this but apparently because I previously has a OHIP number in the past my case as a returning Ontarian means I couldn't apply at a satellite office in the East End.

I had to swim

The weather wasn't great but I had to go swimming for the first time since arriving. Papa dropped something in the pool.

Computer

Well I have my computer unpacked and mostly set up. I have to get a wireless card as the only practical solution to connect to Papa's network. I have never bought a wireless card before I so have no idea what to get. I looked online and fortunately the price range appears to be $20-$50. I cannot wait to connect! (it may take another day or too).

I spent my first night in Ottawa

I'm here. I wish you were here too. We haven't quite decided where I am going to be. Because Emily, Reilly and Jimmy come next week and stay for month it makes little sense to actually move in at this time. I might as well wait until they leave. I am not sure if I will stay in the basement or one of the bedrooms. It might be a while before I have my things set up.

I look forward to seeing Reilly, Emily and Jimmy. It seems like forever since I saw them last. I hope we can arrange some time where we can all play online while they are visiting.

Today, Bryan and Peter are coming to help me unload the truck. Then we have to reload it with the stuff that is going in storage! Then I have to take to the storage facility! It will be a long afternoon!

Massive mill in Dryden, Ontario

Lake Superior

Unfortunately, this is one of the best views we got because for most of the day there was plenty of fog over the lake. Had there not been fog you would clearly see that the other side of the lake is not visible - its that big. Do you guys remember passing lake Superior on our ride to Powell River? I think it may have been night time when we did - I'm not sure I recall.
